From the recording WOOL [SINGLE]
This is an outtake from the "Escape Babylon" sessions. It was meant to appear on the band's upcoming debut full-length but at the last moment a full band electric version of "Wool" entitled "Steel Wool" was recorded and deemed more LP worthy.
Lyrics
Shepherd say it ain’t too late to be a sheep.
It seems that I can’t quite escape the gate that you keep.
Cause I’ve got a will to lose.
So grab this goat by the horns and reverse his ruse.
[CHORUS]
Thought I could pull the wool over your eyes
Thought I could fleece the peace
Thought I could stay stubborn and milk it
But I concede the “Lead”
Shepherd spare me one last chance to let you shear.
It seems I can’t avoid your hands to give forth cashmere.
Cause I’ve got a worth to lose.
So cut this buck down to size and repay his dues.
[CHORUS]
Thought I could pull the wool over your eyes
Thought I could fleece the peace
Thought I could stay stubborn and milk it
But I concede the “Lead”
[BRIDGE]
For he is our God,
And we are the people of his pasture
And the sheep of his hand. (x2)
Today, if ye will hear his voice. (x2)
[CHORUS]
Thought I could pull the wool over your eyes
Thought I could fleece the peace
Thought I could stay stubborn and milk it
But I concede the “Lead”
